Go to the Classic TT /MGP in August. Much better atmosphere esp in the paddock. Cheaper to go on ferry as well. The racing is just as good and easier to spectate at the popular spots.Sensible but sad, it was going to be my first time there and I was ridiculously excited.....had already started packing
Hopefully the Belgium Classic Trophy event will still be on at the end of August https://crmb.be/?page_id=78&lang=en
It's on the list but now looking at a trip to Carlisle air museum via lakes and other fun places to have a pic of my Vulcan with theirs and see the Gannet they got from near me.... Obvs would be rude not the head even further north to find a distillery or two and then home via Beamish...Go to the Classic TT /MGP in August. Much better atmosphere esp in the paddock. The Me163, did they not have a massive pilot fatality rate from training and testing: the wheeled undercarriage had to be ejected on take off, leave it too late and the aircraft was uncontrollable, too soon and it bounced of the ground and could hit the plane. Then if there was any fuel left in the tanks on landing the exploded! Think they did hold the record as first production jet plane and 1000 kph in level flight. There is a Vulcan at the Museum of Flight East Fortune. Went in there after the Bob Mac meeting although that is unlikely to be on this year, and the museum is closed due to the virus outbreak. Some really interesting stuff in there including a tiny Messerschmitt Komet rocket job that no money in the world would get me in. Well worth a trip after all this is over.
The excellent documentary series "The Secret War" had an episode covering it (5. If) must have been good as I can still remember the details in it from the late 70's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_War_(TV_series)There was a film that had some scenes with Hanna Reitsch who I believe found the problem with the Komet's stability. Can't remember the films name unless it was a documentary.
Ref East Fortune, where's Zeppelin Builder who I met there a few years ago with his Ductati headed Norton .
