Trying to locate a previous thread/web site

There was a thread on here (I think it appeared some time in the spring?). I have searched a few times to locate it as it gave a link to website.
The picture in the thread appeared to be a (real?) guy with his head & torso mangled around a lathe having caught his clothing in it.

Now while I do not wish to see the picture again, I was interested in finding the web site. I think the site that it linked to was called “because your`re worth it” or something similar.

Anyone remember?

Nasty, but the kind of thing that should be compulsory viewing to all involved with machinery. (He would’nt really know what happened, cos a 2” bar @ 500 rpm = approx. 25”/sec so that was all over in under 2 secs.)

Notice that this happened in a clean & tidy “Safe” shop and a chuck guard would not have saved him, but common sense would have.

When I was an apprentice in the 1960s we were regularly shown safety films and photos like that, and even now, having been in engineering all my life, if I think about doing something stupid or cutting a corner (to save time) an image like that pops up & I STOP, do “the risk assessment” and then do the job safely. I’ve still got all me bits, tho I’ve seen a lot that have’nt.

Aye those photo's pale into insignificance compared to the grinder safety video they made us watch at engineering college, think that level of gore, but over a warehouse into the next one...
Makes you think though, and thats all they were designed to do..

Perhaps we should start a dedicated sensible health & safety thread, as so many “amateurs” are getting involved with potentially dangerous processes, without the training & hazard awareness we were taught.

Part of our apprenticeships were about survival, and they’ve long gone, so we should pass it on.

I also had to sit through the video nasties as an apprentice, and also visit the Health & Safety museum in London (Don't know if it still exists). We had a Safety man used to give regular lectures to all apprentices - he put things across in a light-hearted fashion but it stuck. So far I still have all of my appendages and faculties.
