Tree - with a face!!

I have to admit I don't have much artistic talent but I know what I like.

I saw this 'sculpture' on a website and really liked it. I converted it to something I could make .....and now the neighbours are dazed and confused!!

Made from 4mm steel.....25 separate parts designed on the PC, cut out on my CNC and then mig welded......probably get robbed for the scrap!!

That looks really good, especially from a distance but why couldn't it be cut out of one piece? Have you seen the sculpture of Nelson Mandela, you could easily do something along similar lines.

Hi..OOTF..it certainly could be cut in one piece but not on my baby CNC !! Plus, cutting it in pieces not only saves me on wasted metal but gives me some welding practice - which I need!!

Stan...I had seen that Nelson Mandela sculpture...I love it.....it would take a lot of skill and imagination to do something like that..there used to be a much simpler one in Denia (I lived near there in Spain for 10 years) it was just straight square tubing bolted together but for all the world you would swear it was curved!

I`ve been to Denia, on way back from Valencia down to Benidorm some realy nice sculptures all over the place. was it this one??

Hi Stan...yes that's the one...I never took a photo of it There were some great ones of bulls as well. I lived about 15 miles down from Denia in Moraira...a beautiful place...I certainly miss the weather. We used to get the 'rocky mountain railroad' from Teulada for a day out in Benidorm 4 euros return...happy days!! Thanks for the picture.....might have a go at a miniature version

Theres more Pics, very sadly the train we used to like no longer runs, The lemon Express to Denia, I believe it needs super dooper maintenace, track upgrades etc etc, I believe the original engines are left in a siding waiting for some miraculous decsion to be made one day-- I was going to say one fine day -but every days fine there.

Thanks Stan...brings back happy memories. I know the Limon Express stopped a long while ago but the little train from Denia to Benidorm was still running when we left in 2011...used the same track through the hills and mountains...a great ride!!!
