That has to be the good point as well as ,hopefully ,saving the workshop. We had a few other ash trees down a year or so ago and am happily working our way through them but more will always be useful. We definitely have an excess of tree cover in the garden as an overhead shot shows over 50 % foliage cover to the detriment of everything else.The tree you describe is big, there will be an incredible amount of good burning fire wood in it, if you take it down. Its a job for a pro. Then kill the root properly.
I had a big ash tree come down due to being hollow rotten, came down in two stages a year apart. We burnt it for nearly 5 winters.
