Hi. My cig transmig 200 developed a wire feed issue. After diagnosis I found that the wire feed motor had worn out brushes. Due to the welder being roughly 20 years old, cig claimed to no longer stock the genuine part/motor i needed which which i found disapointing. After alot of research and comparisons online I purchased what I thought to be the similar item which only required a little retro fitting to fit to my welder. So since operating it again ive found that the wire speed is way fast and seemingly un controllable which has put me back to the drawing board. If anybody has any ideas or similar past experience who may be able to help id be greatly appreciative.. Cheers

If you haven't changed anything beyond the brushes then it's either an underlying fault that was masked by the brush failure, or has been caused by your repair efforts. Brushes are pretty generic, so if you've got some that fit well in the holders I can't see how they would have any effect on the symptoms you describe. Did you have to move any other boards or interconnecting wires to replace the brushes? Did you remove the motor? It sounds as though the motor is seeing an excessive voltage. Perhaps you put the wires back on incorrectly, or have inadvertently damaged something on the PCB.
I would do the simple things first - double check the wiring against the notes and photos you made when changing the brushes, assuming you had to remove at least some wires. I would then measure the resistance across the wire feed potentiometer to check it's not failed, and that the resistance changes as you rotate the knob.

It sounds like you have replaced the wirefeed motor? Did the new one include the complete assembly, with gearbox and drive & pressure rollers? Was the voltage and wattage rating the same as the original?
Some photos inside your machine would help.

Wire feed motor has stopped working. Was working fine, gave the machine a long overdue blow out now no wire feed. All other aspects seem to be fine. Still arked, fan, switching from trigger just no feed motor. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi , just bought a transmig 180se , here in oz , works fine ,came with a large wire reel and gauge 350$ , the price of a new chinese one ! , the bloke had it sitting in his shed with minimal usage for years , has a newlinner/gun aswell , can anybody tell me roughly how old it is and how good or bad this unit is , seems to run o'k' and looks really clean/looked after , weighs a ton too !, cheers.
