Transit mk 6 2.4 diesel, advance solenoid on injection pump.

Evening people, I'm looking at a mk6 2006 transit, rwd, 2.4 non commonrail thing.

Engine 'clacs' and smokes black when revved.

Could this all be down to the timing advancement solenoid on the injection pump?

PSG5 bosch pump - yeah timing solenoid will have a problem ( or a worn pump gate)

Advance solenoid - these are thin on the ground now - I got no spare ones here...

They seem to have been fitted to a lot of Ford injection pumps.

This is what I have, either metering or timing solenoid.
It’s unopened so should still be good check valves came with it.

That looks roughly correct.
Is there two crimp/heat shrink connectors in the bag?

You had to cut and shut the wiring, as the connector goes into the ECU, which I don't think you could do with the pump in situ.
From what I remember, it was a fiddly job on the RWD vans, as access was far more restricted than the FWD vans.

one i have has two bolt holes length of cable to a block with 2 cable connecters bit of shrink wrap
and a length of sheathing i will try to get pic's but phone is playing up
