honestly I wouldnt change lift pump imho till its proved to be faulty, I've not known them be a particular problem unless sucking air, many transits didnt have one, because the transfer pump on the back of the rotary pump pulls the fuel up. the lift pump was fitted to help bleeding and starting.

but I fitted a turbo diesel, it would pull anything (well nearly), Coz in reality was 6 wheel drive, I fitted 6 landrover off road knobbles to her, and powersteering. I once pulled an out of fuel volvo truck, low loader and canal barge 36ton ish , up the big hill from queensferry and from a dead start on the steepest bit, the driver could not believe it and said no one back at base would believe he had been recovered with a transit. The number of BT transits it has recovered and pulled out of fields up to their bellies and 4X4 off talyacre beach is literally countless. I was the rac contractor and BT were with RAC. The lads used to say 'do you want me to drive as well, to help' I would say 'you can put your foot on the brake and the handbrake on if ya want, coz its comin with me regardless' I used to call it 'THE DENTIST' coz It never failed to extract.
