Transfer printing

Anyone know anything about printing decals on a normal inkjet printer ?
Is it possible ?
Any paper availiable.

wrong type of ink. Also the vinyl is heated in a proper signage printer

You can get self adhesive inkjet paper/vinyl but I couldn't say how long the ink would last before fading or the quality of the vinyl. Also it would have to cut by hand which is fine for basic shapes.

Technically the ink is the wrong type as for serious long term they are solvent based, but many companies now use eco inks which are very low solvent and i imagine they are similar to inkjet ink, they can be wiped off the vinyl with alcohol, lamination is used instead to provide uv stability and abrasion resistance.

A Heated printer is only to help dry the ink faster for production.

Try searching for Water Slide Transfer Paper. There are different types for inkjet or laser printers.

There are also some that can be baked on to ceramics or metal for a more permanent finish.

Water slide printed in inkjet don't last even if sealed with clear lacquer, got the t shirt

Tried printing on inkjet. lacquering, laminating etc. Doesn't work!! Looks wrong, paper wrinkles up, ink rubs off, laminate delaminates.

Trying to get some printed for my Saab at http://www.motormugs.co.uk/ who will print from photos etc.

I'd try a commercial print shop/copy shop. They have some cool stuff which is considerably more durable. What's it for?

I do the odd things up and sometimes respray parts etc It would be nice to be able to replace control and switch lettering etc,so it looks original.

Look for an ALPS printer. I wanted to print some decals and I picked up an ALPS printer, which I still haven't used, it prints metal foils, metallics and white.
