Training Advice

Hi guys, new member here looking for some friendly advice. Have been on the website for a while, lurking about but finally got round to registering!

I'm interested in the training as a welder/fabricator. I'm looking at apprenticeships in my area, but there isn't too much available. Pretty much all of them offer working towards a City & Guilds Level 2 in Engineering. Now the qualification does include welding, but to be honest I was thinking something more like the Welding Skills qualification would be more suitable.

Does anyone have any insight on this? There are a lot of support skills in the Engineering qualification which I would imagine would be beneficial. If anyone has any input it'd really be a help.

And if anybody could point me in the right direction of good training places to do a college course in Sheffield or the surrounding area.

This is my first post but I've found a course I'm probably going to do in Cambridge it's a city and guilds qualification 3268. Level 1 is 11 weeks long 1 evening a week and level 2 is the same. £395 per level so less than £800 to be level 1 and 2 city and guilds qualified or certified or whatever. Welding skills level 1 and 2

On the level 1 course you can choose what type of welding you want to study. I know Cambridge is no where near Sheffield but that's the course you might want to search for.

Don't know how far you want to travel but Harrogate college are starting level 1 and 2 welding skills soon.

Might be a bit far to travel but worth it.
