Gents,

Finaly got myself a decent twin axle trailer.

As I don't have anywhere secure to store it it's going to have to go in the field.

I can't be the only one with this problem so what do you do to stop pikeys / scum making away with it?

Apart from taking two wheels off one side and fitting a tow hitch all i can think of is fabricating a bracket that clamps two wheels together then fitting locking wheel nuts, wouldn't stop a grinder though

Any ingenious suggestions?

How easy is it to take the towball off? And how about a lock on the brakes! Fabricate a wheel Clamp?

Dig a hole in the ground 1m square. Get some chain and a large d-ring. And some more scrap. Fill the hole with concrete with the d-ring poking out the top. The chain and scrap are attached to the bottom of the d-ring while the concrete is going in. Then buy a decent motorbike chain and lock, and wrap this around the axles when the trailer is parked-up.

I did this for a mate a couple of years ago, and our caravan-dwelling brethren have twice unsuccessfully tried to take the trailer. It aint going anywhere!

Get one of those posts that lock into the ground in front of the trailer and weld a towball fitting to it then put one of those locks for locking it to the vehicle while in motion on the hitch and lock it to the post. Take two of the wheels off one side and fit wheel clamps to the other two wheels and fit some wind down caravan legs and lock them and drill a hole in the Jockey wheel and put a lock through that as well.

1mm disk in a cordless grinder will soon defeat all of that.

Or the gas axe.

Keep it hidden from view (as well as locked).
