trailer flooring

have a plant trailer that needs a new floor it was done in some sort of board with what looked like a laminate on top.

anyone know what it is called or used working with it?

It looks like resin bonded ply. It's usually high density plywood bonded together with a water resistant resin with a top coating of aluminium oxide grit to give an anti-slip surface.

It's no problem to work with, quite dense and hard but no problem to cut with normal woodworking tools.

I had a surf on the net and think the stuff I am looking for is called phenolic sheeting it is for a plant trailer.

Or sometimes called phenolic ply. You can get it in quite a few patters, the cross hatched floor design is the most common i think.

Done a good few trailers/trucks with it, as above, easy with normal (decent) woodworking tools.

Circular saw is easiest for cutting panels to size.

And wing tip self driller screws for putting it on.

ok good job found a cheaper alternative just has the covering on it. not sure if phenolic ply is that colour the while way through likely stronger?

here is the covered stuff. the trailer has pretty close spacing of steel braces underneath so don't thing strength will be an issue.

and yea only just started using those self drilling screws they are the J O B!


now were to get cheap (decent) jockey wheels??

There is a product very similar called Wisa-Deck. I use it a lot for trailer/box wagon floors. You can get 18mm, 22mm, 25mm and 30mm. I use a company called Servmet. There really competitive and reliable too

That looks like the right stuff. The brown colour doesn't go all the way through. although the edges are often painted brown on full sheets. On a similar note it's often worth sealing any cut edges with some sort of waterproof paint for the best possible weather resistance.

Yes, it's just ordinary plywood inside with a formica layer bonded on one(or sometimes both) side(s).
