Tractor seat

Just been doing a few bits and pieces on a ford 3000. I'm now trying to bodge the seat back into something usefull where you don't have to sit on top of the gearbox. The pic shows the two spring loaded support arms with what i think are worn roller type things on the end.

The bottom of the seat has two brackets with holes, i have found a bar which goes through the holes.

I think the main problem is there might be 1 or 2 springs connecting this bar back to the main mounting that are missing.


Does any one know how it is all supposed to connect up etc.

I'll free everything up a bit more this afternoon.

I think the springs are inside the main housing and a black nob on top is the tensioner I'll have a look at an old tractors seat not from ford but similar I think

Stripped down and rebuilt the suspension bits this afternoon. It works the same as indispension units, with a square bar going through the suspension bits and connected to the support arms each end.

The square bar was worn round at each end so welded them up and ground them flat with a flap disc.



Chucked it all back together with a new steel adjuster knob as the old one was tricky to remove



The right hand arm is lower due to a bit of wear, where it bolts on. So a bit of adjustment with a cutting disc and the mig so it all lines up.





A bit of repair/ strengthening to the seat pan next.

Thanks to snowcat for the information on the missing bits which i should be able to make.

So the rough old seat should end up being a working rough old seat.
