Touch up for fresh drill holes

Hi all.

I'm converting my VW Crafter (to a day van) from scratch so will be drilling holes in the interior panelling and just wanted to know of a good all round single coat brush on paint (dosnt matter what colour as will be covered with various coverings) to stop rust creeping in.
Would also like advice on what product i could use to give the floor a tidy up after removing the ply and fixing screws and treating with a rust preventative (using Bilthammer Hydrate). Something that can go straight over the Hydrate80 and cleaned and keyed white stuff that the manufacturers pass as auto-paint.

I'd just use an epoxy primer.
Would be ideal for your application.

Would this be just for the drill holes or the whole floor? can epoxy be painted over existing paint or does it have to be taken back to bare steel? If its just for the drill holes can you recommend a product as the one i have is UPOL Raptor which is a 2K product that is a bit of a pain to mix in small quantities (for touching up)

It will be suitable for the whole thing.
Just clean and sand the existing paint and any bare metal to get a good key.
The epoxy will seal as well as any top coat it just won't be shiny or the colour you want.
If you want to paint over it at some time, just clean and sand before the next coat, but it will be fine as a one coat system.
It will go on well with a brush (which is the prefered method for edges and the like) but it's also suitable for a roller and of course spraying.

Lechler 29107 is as good as any and well thought of by many on this forum
Upol also do one, they call it Raptor, just to be confusing.
I haven’t used it but also haven’t heard any complaints about it.

I don’t know of a "bad" epoxy just get what is available but if you stick to one manufacture, you will sure they will be compatible. (although compatibility with epoxies is rarely if ever a problem)

Have you any accurate scales?
I find mixing by weight is best for small amounts, but the plastic graduated cups are good.
Thin materials are always easier to decant and mix in tiny amounts

Epoxy does need mixing but its the best. Having said that, when I fitted a towbar to my car I used screwfix galvanising spray, spray into lid then apply with half inch brush. But that was only 2 holes.

+1 for Epoxy but get the base tinted to something like the colour you want, one because it will look better and two because in its natural state epoxy is clear / translucent and difficult to judge the thickness of the wet coat. (well it is for an occasional user like me!)

Sounds like you bought epoxy from metalflake who "forget" to include tinters. If you buy from express paints or paints4u it comes standard grey unless you specify otherwise.

you can buy epoxy from many sellers...in the basic primer colours

big tin of jotun is fair value if you will use it all

Looks like UPOL have named the line 'Raptor',i have the epoxy primer and i believe this is supposed to be laid down before the TruckBedLiner material. Good stuff though, i've used it on the underside of a rear bobber mudguard (fender) as it felt really tough and durable......before putting on various other coats after.

No it came from a truck re finisher supplier who could not comprehend that I was going to use it on something as small as a Range Rover and only sold it to me very reluctantly, I don't think they wanted me to darken their door again, and you know what it worked.
