Hi I'm new to this and I'll tell you why....
I've never been too mechanical with cars but they have always interested me so one day I thought what the hell I'll buy an old car and fix it up (as you do).
So I just bought a Wolf mig welder, an argon cylinder and regulator, wire spool and ppe etc etc. Only thing I need is to connect the gas to the mig.

So my question is (without sounding pathetic) what pipe is the norm? I know it will sound silly but when you don't know, you don't know! I've briefed myself with plenty of vids on mig welding and safety and all but can't find anywhere any potential vitals about the gas pipe itself.

does the welder have a thin nylon gas pipe fitted ?

Hi snooper, yes about 4-5 inch long and its just above a male pipe fitment

those nylon pipes usually push fit into an adaptor on the regulator hose.
if you look at the top of the forum you will find the weldequip shop have a look at the regulators and you will see the pipe and adaptor on the end.
however if you have a hose that will fit both and just put a couple of hose clamps on them away you go just check you have no leaks.
the hose from the regulator doesnt carry high pressure

It came with a little CO2 one but I went and bought a 10 ltr argon one (£90). Regulator on its way, I've put my order in and it hasn't arrived yet.

Snooper, I have no regulator hose, unless it arrives with one but I don't think it will?

yes you have the right one and you will need some hose and an adaptor unless you can make something in you previous post you mentioned a male fitting under the nylon pipe not too sure what that is a picture of it might help
you will need the diameter of the tail that comes with the regulator in order to get the correct size hoze

ah ok, will have to sort a pic out of it. I guess then I should wait until the regulator arrives (prob tomorrow) and check the diameters. Is the hose just a standard rubber type gas pipe then? I know that sounds dumb as hell

you should be able to get some hose from a local welding supplier.
a hose supplier lists it as Argon Hose (BS EN 559)
