Torq Fast Screws

Bought a couple of different sizes of these to use in my home office project.

They were cheaper than the normal pozi's from tool station and came with the corresponding bit in each box.

Easy to use, self drilling and countersinking and did not split the timber when used close to the edge. No cam out either.

Does anyone else use them ?

Yup, I use them for a few things. Much better grip than a standard screw too, so also a good choice if you're joining two pieces and can't bed them too deeply into the second piece.

I like torx heads, but the last lot of screws I needed, bog standard single thread pozi head were miles cheaper, and I couldn't justify the extra.

Used them. Only issue for me is due to the torq heads you have to have your drill bit straight and true. With a posi you can screw in tight to a wall ect and get enough angle for the drill to clear. Used em all the time when kitchen fitting regularly. Pita changing bits when switching screw sizes too. Go from a 5x50 to a 4x30 with a posi you can get away with it. Torq you have to change bits.

Yep, that's true. I just fitted the bits into two different holders.

The cam out noise when the bit slips drives me insane.

We have used the torx screws for a long time, with battery drills and drivers having so much torque available now and a screw which is capable of tolerating this additional torque it is a no brainer for site work, particularly for metal fixing screws.

I use wera bits with mine as the supplied ones vary in quality...a lot and some are next to useless

Ok, I'm new into using these screws and I like them. Ive got 4 of those metal screw boxes from Howdens. Going to convert one into Torx Screws and will get some good quality bits

I was buying stainless screws at a trade counter the other day and asked for pz2 as always and the bloke was surprised I didn't want torx, having used them now I'm pretty much converted. Many less ******** up heads.

I've never used the screws but all the bolts holding the brakes on my bikes are torx. I stripped the original allen heads and thought torx looked cooler so I got them and didn't regret it. They have the added bonus that they'll be a lot harder for some opportunistic scoundrel to take them off when it's locked up.

I use them sometimes all depends on the price and the job, the wera impact driver black bits seem to last well longer than the cheap bits they come with,

I use torx head on frame fixing or concrete anchor bolts that don't need plugs. For everything else I have eleventy million pozi screws

They have been about for 20+ years we used them on fiber glass molds that had to come apart a fair bit to release complicated moldings, great things they pull up really hard

I think the biggest benefit is that there is far less variation on Torx bits. We all been in a situation where you pick two different PZ1 screw drivers and one fits tight and the other doesn't.Obviously there is far more surface area too.

Cost is always a factor but I stopped buying cheap screws a long time a go, I only buy Reisser these days.

I have used them in the past.
Most recently when making custom size cleaning tanks.

I used to use SS twin fast.
But my local supplier gave the Torx and a packet of bits.

Good bit of kit.
Now cheeper than Pozi twin screw's.

First came across them ten years ago when fiitiing a new frame for s family member garage door.
