torch shrouds

Hi all,

Just an odd question, what are the different shroud types available for the likes of an MB15/25 torch used for, i use a conical one atm, so parallel then a tapered tip, but there's long tapered ones, straight ones, ones with bits sticking out so you cant get close to the work piece?

Personal preference I think. Or work access

the ones with two prongs sticking forward (bits sticking out) are used usually for spot or plug welding with a mig, useful for pushing the two plates hard together.

I always try to use as larger diameter shroud as i can, less likely for spatter to stick, especially when welding dirty steel. The smaller ones are used for such as fillets where access is slightly limited. It allows a better view of the weld but will need cleaning out more regularly.
