Torch potentiometer or pedal?

Looking through the blurb that came with my tig set up, I noticed I can get an adjustable dial that will fit onto my Parweld torch. I do mainly light repairs to decorative metal light fittings and assorted items. They can be a bit on the delicate side and I need to be a bit smart about getting settings right when welding, or I tend to blow holes through really thin areas.

The new switch will cost about £70.00 and I'll have to open the torch to fit it. Is this a good way to go, or should I consider a foot pedal?
Anyone fitted one to their torch before?

I aways find that a pedal is the best method as your hands are busy enough with torch manipulation and feeding filler, with out the added complication of the power control!

Thanks, I'm trying to find some info on where I can get a pedal for a Blueweld (Telwin) machine. But don't know the names of any reputable manufacturers.

Try this place, I got a pedal for my TIG from them and it's first class, if they don't have one on the shelf then they will try to get one made for you.

WWS Wholesale welding in Letchworth, Herts are the UK importers for Telwein.

They should be able to get you a genuine one.
