How do you stop the weight of the torch cable pulling on the torch when you arent able to sit when welding?

Run the cable over your shoulder and let about a metre of it droop down in front of you, just don't strangle yourself when you walk off for a slash.

Also, what about out of position welds? Would one of those re-usable quick release cable ties come in handy?

Thats what i usually do, but find the weight still pulls on my arm and its a bit awkward at my wrist. Im interested to find how everyone else deals with it

Tig welding the bottom of something is always gona be awkward at the wrist.you just get used to it

I hang my torch cable from a movable arm above me when welding standing up.
It seems to take most of the weight...pic below.

I always go once round my forearm with around half a mtr of slack then to my hand, this covers most positions quite comfortable I find. My torch has very flexible hoses which makes this much easier. Ridged torches would be first sent over my shoulder. You'll find a position that works.

We usually make A arm stikking out from the back over the gas bottle towards the front of the welder. that way u can hang ground and gun in that. And u wont be holding the hose all the time, and when u hang it up there when done, nothing is rubbing the floore, Ill take a photo tomorrow and show. it really worked great. looks much like Wyn's thingy, only it stick out from the top back of the welder.
