Hi, I have a Gasless MIG102NG that I bought second hand.
Immediately it was obvious that it had a wire feed problem. It's been sat around a long time now, needing a wire liner and, I guess, a swan neck liner.
I'd never replaced a wire liner, or dissasembled a torch before this one - the idea was to check the torch for slag / blockages and replace the liner if neccesary.
On removing the wire liner from the torch block (threaded), I was surprised to find that the wire liner protruded beyond the crimped brass fitting right into the torch, as if it was a one piece wire liner AND swan neck liner, although there was no tapering of the diameter of the coil.
I should mention at this point that there is NO grub screw on the torch block for securing a regular swan neck liner.
The only replacement liner that Clarke sell that is described as being suitable, in fact isn't. The male thread on the crimped connector is too small. The MIG102NG is a very new welder and I guess their replacement parts packaging hasn't caught up yet.
I also don't see how a replacement swan neck could be fitted.
If anyone can offer any advice, or has any experience - I would be grateful. It is just out of warranty and I need to spend as little as possible on this - I want to avoid buying a whole new torch assy hopefully.
One thought, that has crossed my mind is; I wonder if the enlarged end of the swan neck liner will thread into the the torch block, thus acting like a helicoil for the replacement Clarke liner? Is this something anyone has ever come across?
Clarke servicing people were no real help, all other suppliers of welding consumables I've spoken to have never heard of this welder so couldn't advise.
Thanks for reading, any comments welcome.
Pics below. The torch block is made from plastic/resin with Brass inserts. Gasless so just two fittings, one thread either end.
