I gave the lone of my topper to a cousin and got it back with the shaft broken I can't really complain as I have done this several times in the past and kept piling on weld to get myself out of trouble so this time I decided to rebuild the broken section the biggest problem was the pen holding on shaft was seized so it had to be cut out with the reciprocating saw

I cut off the broken section and made a new piece of box from some 4'' angle iron which was 10mm thick
in

then I cut the sleeve and lit a fire to redden it as there was no way it would
budge

they just cut out the whole in the new piece with a small bit in the magdrill because of hole was about 50 mm and welded it all together

I hadn't done any welding for a while so I really enjoyed doing this but some weren't quite so impressed
