I have a couple of questions regarding good tools to buy.

I'm needing new drill bits, i vary between using 2mm up to about 10mm And sometimes use 10-12mm. I only use this for hobby jobs so previously just bought a silverline HSS set which has lasted me well but starting to go low. Just wondering any know of a good place to get a decent set from?

Obviously i'm not wanting to pay too much as its only for pottering about not for working with.

Wheres best to buy tools for metal work? I'm currently serving my time as a Plater but the tools you get now a days are cheap and won't last, Looking for good old style tools which are going to last me.

I used to buy cheap drills and they drove me insane
I then bought a set of presto bits and they have been with me for the last 5 years, they are great.
look on ebay for presto, dormer and that will lead you to other good makes.
I live buy the rule, ' if you buy cheap, you end up buying twice'.
Old tools can be great and i would again look on eBay but narrow your search to within 10 miles of your post code as then you can collect cheaper than post.
It takes years to accumulate quality tools if you aren't a millionaire but i suggest looking at the garage thread to see what others have achieved too over time.

Bought a nice boxed set of HSS "jobber bits" from Screwfix in a sale. Good for working out what you use - then chuck
But Bosch "Colbalt" in the sizes I use frequently.

I have a slightly different phrase from Matrakev "Buy cheap, cry twice"
