yeah, just priced it at £66 for a tad more than i need...if i dropped to 30x30 box it is 50 quid all in. not sure if i need 40mm box or if 30 would do it, but either way its cheaper to get steel from there and get something for the outer skin and still be cheaper than just buying the steel from ebay...and as for metals4u, my previous online stockist they can jump if they think im ever paying their prices again...£45 for 6M of 40x40x3 plus postage, and even with the free postage over a certain order its still ridiculously priced compared to brundle

As the grinder is best secured down you may find after attaching your vice to a bench then fitting grinder to same bench you are stuck for room. Try securing grinder to a piece of 6"x6"x1/2 ply (there are bolt/screw holes for this) then attach a 6"x2"x2" to the underside. this can then be quickly clamped in vice (workmate) when needed, then when done spin vice open and plonk under bench. That's what I have done with mine and makes it a quick useable tool not something that is always in the way. Note if left running for more than about 5 mins the motor case gets very warm!

i would be mounting it on a portable mount anyway and using workmate as i dont have a bench due to no dry storage...well, for the moment anyway, things may be changing after finding cheaper steel than i usually buy

Flipping heck. That's cheaper than my local steel supplier and I don't need to cut it up in their yard and sellotape it into the back of the pickup!

That is exactly what I thought when I saw it. The guy I usually get steel from would want 35 quid for a length like that and I would have to either pay to have it cut, or take a hacksaw and then fit it all in the car. Having it delivered in a 7.5m length means I can get more useful cuts out of it and as you says it's cheaper than going local

Yes, I was quite pleased to find that site, the prices are quite refreshing after using places such as the metal store...
I confirmed with them that the £10 delivery charge includes full length steel, it's an excellent deal.

Only thing I would say is not to take the urine. They have a good delivery charge and good prices, but make it worth their while - if people constantly take tiny amounts in long lengths etc where it isn't worth their while delivering it prices will eventually go up to reflect this and we'll all lose out.

I'm sure some people would order 50x half inch lengths to save themselves the effort of cutting it up, but I would be ordering just one length of each item I need. Would ordering a 0.1x (600mm) length of two different higher value items be taking the wee? VS ordering a single low value item. If its an issue for them, perhaps they should have a minimum order value for delivery or adjust the delivery cost rather than changing prices. I'm sure they would not under price, they are a business with the aim of making money.
Cutting up lengths does not take much skill or time, its mostly a fixed cost of business and the extortionate price charged by parkermetals could easily pay a daily wage (per item ).

i prefer buying in long lengths, especially at their prices as if i buy pre cut im bound to those dimensions so it makes it harder to alter things if you realise your maths was out, or you want to modify your design etc...7.5M lengths would suit me fine, i just about have space to store them and can just cut off what i need when i need it
