Still have a use! Especially on lathe workClearing through a draw of might be useful bits and found a set of toolmaker's buttons which got me wondering if anyone still uses these for setting out. Have they been made totally obsolete by modern digital devices?
I bet most nowadays wouldn't even know what toolmakers buttons are!
), but looking at pictures I can think of a couple of jobs I've done which could have benefited from them. I got by fine without them though, but that doesn't mean I won't be acquiring a set soon.

You set them with jo blocks or height gauge then clock them in on the machine . Idea for faceplate or four jaw work and when there isn’t a dro available but jig bore precision is requiredJebuz, like watching paint dry. Still non the wiser, gave up, skipped forward, gave up again.
Will likely give them a miss.
