I have one of them on one of my grinders.

They are a little bit bigger than most of the normal nuts, so sometimes interfere, depending on what discs your using.

They works well. But to be honest, i never need to use a spanner on a 5" grinder anyway. A quick hit with the palm of your hand and they undo. For really stubborn ones, a knock on the edge of a bench or similar undoes them.

Have had the displeasure of them AEG ones. Came as standard on a Milwaukee grinder.
The handle bit fell of in no time
The nut was bad, but the grinder was even worse

Not used one, but intend to if I can find a suitable one!
The nut on my 12" makkita is forever getting seized on, last time I came to it it was so tight I came to the conclusion that I would have to cut it off, and used the smaller ones instead. I have no idea why it tightens up, could be corrosion or could be torque tightening. It certainly gets stuck in when you need it to...

Got some holes to saw in walls so have to fix it soon, could be a good fix for it long term...

If you tighten the nut well when you fit the disc it's less likely to spin in use and sieze on. I used to fit my 9" discs by hand and had the same problem, tightening hard with the key cured it. W/A

think i will go have a go with hitch's method before I fork out the 15 quid it will be the bosch 1 i go for i think don't fancy a blade flying past my left ear LOLS

i had the same problem with my 9" bosch (found that clamping it in the vice was the only way to get the god dam thing off) i then greased the spindle and threads and have not had any problems since.

ps any one else recall the bad old days of 2 spanners to remove a blade.... best invention the spindle lock????

It must have been some inferior knockoff, since the one that I've got on my 5" AEG grinder is rock solid, and I've abused it with screwdrivers, vicegrips and my fingers for at least 5-6 years now, if not more, and it's still good as new.

Yes! Bloody useless bendy spanners supplied with them too, the jaws would always spread making them totally useless.
