Toolbox chest good deal?

anyone bought anything from SGS?

They have this toolbox chest on offer for £83.29 which seems a good deal but just because things are cheap doesn't always mean they are worth buying right?

My old man has one of these and they are poor compared to snap on of Mac tools boxes but saying that are a fraction of the price.
If I was you I would look for a second hand mac tools bottom box, they are peanuts and way better quality.

Also the boxes sold at Costco are way better than the SGS one.

The professional stuff from halfords is pretty good for the money, just wait for one of their discount days.

They are generic boxes sold under lots of names
Halfords sometimes have there version for 50 quid
If you want a look at one the usually have one on display
I have a black halfords one and it is far higher quality and not a bad price
Especially with a trade card

Personally I think you will find its very flimsy.
I feel you are better buying a second hand better quality box.
Snap on. Beech, Sykes , Britool, Bott etc are ones to look for

Now thats good advice.
Took me a long time and a bit of luck to find the box my son wanted, then we found one even better that we didn't even know had been made as it was only made for 3 years in the 70s, but never found a matching roll cab seen 2 on Ebay but both miles away, so if you have a big 70s roll cab in need of love I am your man.

I have one of those (the black industrial range), but tbh I think the stack was better without the intermediate box.
It makes the stack so tall I can hardly see in the top shelf, and I'm 6"1.

Another annoyance is that I can't open the top lid fully in my garage because with the mid chest it hits the roof rafters..

Check the sizes on that SGS box, they are not big spanners hung on the side! I bought a similar cheapie from Halfwords for my milling machine tools as it was about £25 with discounts, the top box comes packed inside the lower, certainly not worth £100 or even the reduced price of £83.

I have one of the Halfords industrial boxes and would recommend it. If you know anyone with a trade card they are £120 at the moment.

I got this from Ebay for £87!
These I believe were almost £1000 new in the 80s. Its massive and heavy and should last easily another 30 years.
Needs a draw runner replacing

Ive bought two from Us pro tools on ebay. The first was a small cab and box for 56 delivered, similar to the sgs above. Its oo small for much. Second was a much larger 5 draw cab and 6 draw box 150 delivered and significantly more robust.

Disagree I have an old US pro box which got beat to death in the back of vans and pickup trucks. The Halfords industrial is much more heavy duty.

I suspect US pro just buy from anyone who can manufacture them so quality could vary, at the moment no one wants to pay for quality so manufacturers are cost cutting steels gone up so it has to be better design to use thinner steel etc.
I still thing second hand is the best way.

ive never understood the snapon box craze, takes more money away from buying the tools to go inside it
