Tool steel weldability

I need to weld a tang onto a piece of 3 mm gauge plate ( 01 or 2 not sure ) it's not a critical job , just enough to fit a handle , is it possible with an inverter stick , 2.5 6013 rods , cheers

You be better with 309 or 312’s if you can get them I’d think.

will welding 0-1 tool steel affect its ability to harden? if welded when its annealed, will it have to be re-annealed before being worked? its an odd one, but my mrs uncle wants an odd shaped cutting edge and the quickest way i cna see of doing it is welding 2 bits of 0-1 together, grinding...

You be better with 309 or 312’s , it's a one off , probably won't even use half a rod, it's just for a carving gouge tang, need to make a special , cheers

(dissimilar's - super blues call them what you like)

I been buying ELGA MMA Cromarod 312's in 2.5mm and 3.2mm rods for this type of job.
