Took the PhotoSniper out today.....

.....and didn't get shot or arrested

I was on a quiet backroad, overlooking a valley ive seen Harris hawks hunting before, sadly not today so I did some comparison shots

The PhotoSniper is a modified soviet camera with a Tair 300mm lens on a gun stock https://kayosphotography.wordpress.com/photosniper/

I was using my 550d in manual mode, the comparison shots are with a 50mm lens, considered a "normal" viewpoint, however I shot those in Program for ease

There is some quite significant vignetting at f4.5/5.6 however this is pretty much gone by f8, I am working on a lens correction profile for it in Lightroom

I'm guessing you're not using a Zenit E? I had one as my very first introduction to 35mm photography - graduated to Olympus gear and from there to Bronica 6 x 6 [all sadly now sold due to lack of space and traded in for a Nikon DLSR and lenses. Not that there's anything wrong with it, just never match the resolution of the big neg/transparency].

It came with a Zenit 12s (TTL version), but the lightmeter was faulty, plus I don't get on well with Soviet cameras, my Kiev 60 has just gone from being awkward to an ornament

When I want to shoot film with the sniper my Eos 3 now has a split screen for focusing, as does the 550d

My next "big" purchase will probably be a Bronica, unless I get swayed by a Fuji 645/690, I have plenty of 120 film but sadly no working camera for it now

I used to have a 6x9 RFH for the Sinar, the negs. were so nice to print from, then again I always found 6x4.5 or 5x4 to be too square so perhaps it was just in my head.

I have a Sanderson 1/4 plate camera that I inherited, along with a number of double sided plates. Although I used to be quite into my photography and film processing I never got round to using the Sanderson so it sits in a display cabinet, I really ought to put it to good use.
It's the same as this one:

The shot of those girls is fantastic, they are all using rangefinders so I suspect they are actually aerial reconnaissance camera's, the one on the left seems to be quite a large format film

I like the square format, 6x6 is a fave of mine, until I sold the Rolleicord and broke the Kiev that is, hence the Bronica lust, I have a huge enlarger that takes big negs, and can print 20" x 20" no problem, need big trays to develop the prints tho

If that Sanderson works, it needs using at least once, even to just put a developed plate next to it in the camera in the display case

As it happens I have a bit of Bronie kit somewhere, off the top of my head SQ + SQAi bodies 80mm, 50mm, 150mm, 45mm?, un-metered prism, WLF and a few 120 6x6 backs, I ought to have a clear out.... one day perhaps.

Some where around here, is a box is a couple of Pentax ME supers, I also have a 500 mm Mirror lens and even a 2x converter if needed, there is no depth of focus when I get that on and definatly a heavy tripod jobby, with no wind either.

Never had a Pentax for some reason, almost bought one at a boot sale last week but got distracted with a Dewalt 18v 1/2" impact, and when I went back to the Pentax it had gone, or I got confused and couldn't find it...........

I've owned all sorts of Pentax over the years SLR's and compacts in 35mm, started with an MX and still got a Super A with a few Ka mount lenses somewhere in the loft. Mostly use a K-x DSLR at the moment.

I know someone who uses a Pentax professionally, he covers ice racing in Norway with old glass on a modern body.

My first SLR was actually digital, I had always been interested but never had the money until about 7 years ago I updated from a bridge. I went to a shop and tried many camera's, decided I liked the layout and feel of Canons so bought one with a couple of lenses.
Then once I'd been doing it a while, bought more glass, I found a cheap film body at a boot sale, bought it and some Tri-x and was hooked ever since

I have bought the older cameras to have something cheap(ish) and robust to throw in the van, but I also bought an EOS 3 that was second only to the 1 when it was new, fully featured with autofocus that puts modern cameras to shame

I still have the Olympus OM10 I got for my birthday 30 years ago, complete with the boxes and instructions. I have an enlarger too, plus several old box brownie and other old cameras, passed on from relatives. No vintage Leicas sadly.

I also have an OM10, was a great camera back then and still is, shoot now with a 5D3 and love it.

First camera was a Zenit B (iirc) with helios 44-m. I now use all the m42 lenses on a Samsung NX body, love it.

I've just received a Pentacon 6 adapter to use my Volna 3 lens on Canon, for a simple lens the colours are stunning, does need a correction profile but that will be done shortly

Had someone ask how I could focus it, he was adamant you couldn't get a split screen micro prism for my camera, until I let him look through it

I loved shooting on 5.4 plate cameras. I still have my Sonar Wolf from my student days. It took ages to set up and calculate the exposure, taking into account focal length and reciprocity failure.
