the only trouble with them is no fast speed and fine feed on the head

Good quality machines Tom Senior especially with the vertical head, good price, but it's not a universal miller [& not advertised as such] it's a horizontal with a vertical head, a universal mill has a swivelling table .

Thankfully I know how much trouble I would be in if I bought it! One of those times when I'm actually glad I don't have the garage finished.

I have a Tom Senior universal, the table swivels when you slacken off a nut on either side of the table. Never had the need to swivel the table though, and don't fancy it as it would be a pain to clock it back afterwards.

They are a good quality machine, but the vertical head is a bit of an after thought and there is very little room under the end of the spindle, less than 6 inches, much less when you use a collet chuck.
