@The_Yellow_Ardvark is quite involved in this down in the south. I had a look and there's a few of them up this end of the pitch too. Quite a good idea, I've even thought about going along for a nosey.

don't need too theres many on here already 
yet many has different projects going and some fancy building something else
though many sheds do need a tidy up in them, unless your at a stage you cant fit anything else in your shed as its full already

They were originally proposed, I believe, when someone realised that a lot of older men, especially those whose wives had died, were getting very lonely, which is bad for their health. The rest, as they say, is history. I think its a brilliant idea. I tried to get my older brother to go along. He didn't, and I can't help wonder if he'd still be with us if he had.

I'd love to go to my local one but it's only open for 2-3 hours in the middle of the day on weekdays.
I've been trying to get my dad to go along to his local one but no joy so far.
I think he'd enjoy it. He used to run a model engineering evening class in the local high school workshops years ago.

Sheds do have odd times when they are open. We are adding an evening session.
One of the thing about Men in sheds is there is no expectations on you.
We have one member who comes along to watch me restore things and repair tools. His old trade.

There's probably more validity in that comment than most people realise, retirement was traditionally a time to take it easy. Retirement is now viewed differently by many people as a time to undertake hobbies and pastimes work l;eft no time for, but whatever the view the inescapable fact is that people are using their brains and bodies, albeit at a pace they dictate and of course the social interactions which have been depleted in many areas of life.
