Needed to remove the spare,which required the gas torch as I suspect it’s not been removed for many years,the bolt hangers had seized,attack with a chipping hammer reassured me the wheel was adequate as a spare,however the countersinks were irregular so out with the gutbuster to reface,though they’re not 45degrees!

Amongst the usual rebranded tat, Ralli Wolf in India still appear to make some of the old Wolf tools and spare parts, I had a look through their website when looking for spares for my Wolf toolpost grinder.

I've got an ELU coalminer's pick head ( pitted with rust unfortunately ) I used it once 18 or so years ago till the helve fell apart from years of wood worm feasts . I've been promising myself I'll make a new stick out of local grow apple wood , if I can find such a beast as that, it’s the kind of wood that used to be used in the local pits.

Within 200 yards of here there used to be a father & son business that had a big copy lathe and they made many different tool shafts for several mines . Would have been handy if the son was still alive and able to make my shaft but he's been dead for 30 years or more and all his gear was sold off as scrap due to coalmine closures .

I’ve got an old wolf gutbuster, can’t remember the last time I used it . I had a vague plan to mount it in a drill stand , it would probably be better than my pillar drill and would definitely run at a slower speed.
Realistically a project that will remain forever at the concept stage.
