Toilet Fixings

Hi all ,this is a question on fixing down a back to the wall toilet , the system is a pair of plastic L shaped brackets that are screwed to floor , would screwing , small bolt fixing to a piece of flat plastic which is glued to the porcelain tiles, or do I risk drilling the tiles , or simply silicone the pan to the tiles , it's a concrete screed floor ,
The tiles are large format and I want to avoid , minimise the chance of them cracking

If you are worried just silicone it

Stick it down. Ever tried to remove a toilet that's siliconed to tiles.

If you want to drill grab some diamond core cutters. The erubeur ones from Screwfix las ok for the price.

Marcrist if you have long arms.

Pu 45 for example of sikaflex, it won't move.

Pu45 the plastic plate with the brackets on , plan on using an old 8 mm cutting board with the brackets screwed ,bolted to it , ?..

Chemical resin to hold the rawl plugs in failing that or dowels...

No.

Ceramic a normal masonry bit with no hammer.

For porcelain.

My set of these have done a fair few holes

Wet sponge or squirty bottle as you go.

They say they can cut dry but last longer with cooling

Lol nope.not in porcelain. You can see the drill bit being melted away as it gets red hot.


If your happy burning through 3 or 4 bits a hole it's doable. I've had to in the past when it was all I had to hand but the diamond bits make it easy

I'm sure once you get through the glazed surface any drill will do but heed @eLuSiVeMiTe s advice.

I like to have a cup of water handy, and dip.

Probably why all my masonry drills are semi knackered mind you.

But, if it does the job.....

CT1, dont (as I did) think the last person was rough for using silicone and drill straight through a 28mm hot pipe, in a care home...

Luckily it was mid refurb so no residents were affected
