To those with split a/c drain question

Id like to ask how your install drains and into what ?

Installer wanted to run 20mm plastic conduit straight down and onto that gap on the path, I feared damp issues and told him leave it, but it dumps more than I imagined ,bucket a day in winter...summer the sun might dry it as it drips?

What's the forums opinion if I was to run 50mm downpipe onto that small gravel area, I thought dig it out as much as I can and fill with gravel but would it cause agro with the house wall? I'm not where near any downpipes/drains and struggling to think of what I could do

Soakaway should be fine as described

New units produce way more than older ones, replaced some in a council HQ and had a call back for a damp ceiling

Long story short, the old pipework and pump was never fitted properly but the old units produced so little it didn't matter, the new units quicky overwhelmed the pipework and pump

thanks , what do installers use for the downpipe ? ideally i was thinking 20mm but theres the drain pan and inside pipe to join into that somehow , i dont suppose 50mm downpipe is much worse to look at

Mine is in the loft and the drain is tied into the soil pipe. Is that possible with your layout?

EtA: I was thinking of the indoor evaporator running in cooling mode. If you are talking of the outdoor condenser unit and running in heating mode, I'll apologise and mind my own business!

^ both , ive only had winter use so far ...although summer isnt so much of a concern as a hot day should dry some of it as it comes out

unit isnt high enough to drain via the loft , if id thought about it a foot high it could dump into the gutter
