Luckily my end can was already scrap but my welding it didn't improve matters. It didnt weld anything like anything I have ever welded before.

That went ok. Most difficult bit was stopping the filler sticking to the front of the puddle.
I think the small porosity at the end of the weld is down to not being able to clean inside the crack as it became hairline. Maybe I should have ground it out.
I won’t risk taking anymore material, it is pretty thin to start with.

Are these pictures of the weld as welded (and not cleaned up)?
If so, that's actually a more than decent first try of Ti welding.
Mind, cleaning up Ti has no value whatsoever, as discoloration means problems throughout the entire wall thickness instead of just surface contamination as in stainless steel.
Using a bottle of higher purity Argon and a dedicated trailing shield could've yielded in almost no discoloration.
The filler sticking to the metal is indeed adding a whole 'nother level of difficulty, try doing it in a purge chamber with rubber gloves on and in an awkward position...

I've seen Ti welding at less than 5 ppm O2 on ultrasonic cleaned pieces and filler, still sticking. I doubt dirt contributes to the sticking. Gotta fill hard and fast, on the leading edge of the weld pool.

Of course I've got proof to back it up. Even got certs myself. Are you qualified for the welding you offer?
Depending on the brand of plane you take, it's probably got Ti pieces designed and welded under my supervision. Do you own a performance car? Chances are precedures were written by us. I don't want this to become a "mine is bigger than yours" discussion, so I'll try to be positive:
When I say "written by us", it is because we've got a metallurgical engineer helping optimising the procedure (eg. to evaluate the grain growth, which is a problem when it comes to mechanical strength), when necessary determining PWHT parameters, ...), an NDT expert, someone that puts it all in the right format, ...
We do everything apart from (production) welding. I don't know where/how you understood that, but we offer no commercial welding whatsoever. R&D, testing procedures, yes, but we're a consulting company, not an employment agency.
I don't intend to do EN1090 in the UK, because as I've said before, it's boring and stupid. I do however hope to do more technical support jobs in the UK, as for one I really like collaborating with UK guys, they're blunt but efficient, I like the lingo, and you've got some really nice workshops there that perform specialty work.
