Tip size 1.3mm or 1.4mm

Hi all,

Firstly, many thanks for a great site as i have taught myself to weld and restore the bodywork of my MG Midget using this site alone. Now the welding is complete I'm about to start the daunting process of a bare metal cellulose respray.

After trawling the archives I have bought a Sealey Gold S701 gravity feed spray gun to use with my old 3HP 50ltr compressor.

The problem is that the tip size is 1.4mm and the paint supplier (Jawel) recommends a 1.3mm tip size for cellulose. Do i need a new gun or is the 0.1mm difference negligable?

It is negligible and will make no difference to the finish unless you are a real perfectionist who measures microns of paint cover. The gun is good for cellulose.

It won't make much difference, You can put it on with a 2.0 if you know what your doing.

The jet size increase is 8 percent or about. Though, an extra 0,1 mm means surface not diameter and that flows a lot more paint.

i dont think you would be able to tell a 1.3 to a 1.4.maybe if you used it allday,everyday you might.
