The amazing thing is, I DONT have any spares left over !!! that is a first for me ha ha

Always amazes me how this happens! 2 weeks ago I replaced a door lock & servo on the car & found I had a small bolt and 2 screws left at the end - but I know everything went back in (& it all works). Sometimes I think the fairies are messing with me - maybe the same ones who move stuff so I can't find it, then put it back right under my nose!

you can get the led gu10 lamps like the one in the link above they will be less sensitive to vibration

Milliput, I have not heard that for years.
it was your drill colour that set me on the lighter colour idea, it looks good and makes it a bit like original, sort of very pale green/blue.

I use milliput all the time in my reef tank, stick coral frags to rock.

Anyway TBH it's OK but in this case using something like super steel epoxy would give a better finish and be a lot more durable in my view.

oooh yes I do like that light on the progress 2.
very similar colour to my drill !!!! the light I realy do want to fit.
the one I have is right diameter but far too long, it sticks out about 1 1/2 inch so looked daft.
if I can I want fit it flush, or atleast flush ish.

ill have a look around, a bloke next door to me is just renovating his home and so far the only thing not chucked out is lights.
I am sure he has some just like that under his kitchen cupboards, will investigate, because if they are free then they are obviously better.
I find that anything free is good, I do like to do my bit for the eco system !!!.
the light I would fit to the 240 volt coming in and put a simple switch under the pulley cover. there is a slot there I could use for that.
if not ill put the switch by the motor bracket.

I will go look at led gu10 lamps right now.

I restored an Elliot 2g the big brother to yours and it had the original fitted but the lamp holder was unsafe so I fitted a halogen lamp they are cheep as chips and I fits realy neat into the hole heres a pic hope it helps. I found the halogen lamp gets hot and I burnt myself a few times so I changed it for a led one same fitting

do you know the brand and name of the lamp etc, size the of it .. anything will help ha ha
I have drilled a small hole to take the wire as mine was not fully drilled.
have you a pic of the other end of your light fitting ?

that looks like a gu10 halogen lamp some are a simple 2 pin push fit and some push and twist slightly, bulb holders for them are cheap on ebay

ive already got a bulb and holder, but mine is far too long for my drill.
mine is the 2 prong bulb that you push in and twist, it was free so will find another use for it.
But I need a shorter bulb to make it fit under the body nicely, don't want it poking out at all if I can help it.

once the lamp is sorted I just need 3 nice big felt type washers for the main pillar to stop the metal to metal rubbing on the collars like
in the pic below of a fantastic renovation on a fobco star.
these fibre type washers will keep the metal nice and also hold a touch of lubricant !!!
I have no idea where to get these yet ?

Make your own if you have a lathe; just use nylon or polyprop, which will be reasonably slippy. A cheap/free source of polyprop is old plastic chopping boards, commercial kitchens bin these regularly.

here is a lamp complete with connection not sure how long it needs to be, as you will see its 48mm total the bulb shown is 250w but you can get lower wattage

no 250w 24v but they are available as 12v 50w as you say and are much cheaper and common, I had a box of 40 12v and threw them out as I didn't use them or know anyone that did

what I need is 240 volt, I don't want to start putting converters inside the housing.
the size of bulb above is about right though.
I will be going shopping for a bulb this week as my main bulb in the garage died today, and guess what the spare is dead too.
chances of finding 2 types of bulbs for free is zero, so I will have to break into another pound note I suppose.
I have the fitting for it already. so just need to get the bulb and wire up a switch for it.
I might even give it an earth wire

Got the right size bulb as in dimentions. .
Only 40 watt halogen and it cost a whopping 49p at screwfix.
Once i get it all wired in i will see about getting brighter. But this is ideal to get me started on fitting it in.
Also got a tin of 10 Bosch metal cutting 1mm discs for £9.99 . Even they say made in china !!!

not sure I actually need anything brighter, this bulb seems pretty bright to be honest.
It will definitely do me for a good while, the spread of light is better than I expected too.
Definitely worth its whole 49p, infact I might go proper mental and grab a spare at this price !!!.

even worse than the 49p is the fact that I need a new angle grinder, my one today gave up and totally self destructed, it was a sad moment.
It was given a couple of new bits about 5 months ago(heart liver kidney and lungs, but the side effects have killed it) and even then I did not
expect more than a day out of it to be honest.
So now ive got to break into my wallet AGAIN!!!! to buy a little grinder.

not sure whether to buy cheapest little 115mm grinder I can find, or spend a bit more and get decent one, don't want a cordless as they
are too expensive and not as good as a wired one.

buts the 49p I am worried about, it could turn out to be a waste if the first one blow !!! then I will have wasted all that money
I am in the process of making a little wood burner stove for my garage, so need it ASAP.
