But now I've seen this!

I’m on some XGT, but check battery prices before you commit, they are almost certainly the best battery packs in the power tool world right now but they make you pay for it!

Want an 8Ah on there for decent run time, add another £300 to the cost!

We used to put them on the exhaust manifold. Cannot even find the manifold on a modern motor.

One of my mates used to put a steak on the exhaust manifold of the Cummins in his Komatsu digger when he had his tea break about 10 and then when they stopped for lunch at 1ish it was perfectly cooked.

I had a little immersion heater thing that plugged into the cigarette lighter socket and hung over the side of your mug ,,, it was slow but you got your cuppa soup eventually.

I used to work for a company that made hot air flotation dryers, amongst other things.

The American side of the business used to build in a “pizza oven” in one of the pressure relief doors many years ago, you could use the heat from the dryer to cook stuff/keep it warm! I never saw one, but we did have a few barbecues when commissioning at some places before any solvents or anything were put in (made sure everything was well wrapped in foil and set on 200° air temp!!).

@Misterg i didn’t see it myself but I’m sure someone said they used to cook potatoes on the finer??

Way back in the last century when I used to work in a research/development lab' we had a small electric oven. Was quite handy for lunchtime pies until our department chief banned us from using it for "domestic culinary purposes"

Also used liquid nitrogen to make ice lollies, anyone remember an orange drink called a Jubbly, came in a sort of triangular container?

Yes I do when I was a kid....back in the 60's...used to buy them at the corner shop...

Haha - hadn't heard of that one (I'd be dubious about it myself, as they were quite often covered by a thin layer of red lead dust, but that wouldn't necessarily stop them - they used to poke holes in the dusk masks so that they could smoke... )

At the R&D labs, a rather stuffy and old-fasioned manager was in the habit of using one of the small lab kilns to warm his lunchtime pasty.
