Time for an isp change

Pretty much been with all the decent ones the last 13 years.
By that I don't mean a biggy that offers no customer service.

The downside service costs and is only available by a small ISP.
Some companies are better for ADSL than others but FTTC/P is BT network, either way a good ISP will get things sorted pronto.

Migrated to BT 18 months ago and about to migrate away, but will they let me go!
Phone calls never been so high, dropouts and more importantly routing issues. £26p/m for unlimited FTTC, stung with line rental and calls.
Went to extreme lengths, spoke to management in a stalemate situation and would only go if given a phone number to a uk call centre, they lied just to get the business.
Log a problem, if not sorted in two weeks its scratched off done.
Should be high 70meg here less than 300 yards to cabinet, 41 meg on a good day 7 meg upload but wont admit its the alum cable laid 30 odd years ago. Indian answer you have a good line and should be grateful.

Just had a chat with a neighbour, he tells me he's paying £5 + line rental per month for BT broadband, limited to 10 GB per month.

BT users can circumnavigate the limit by signing up to BT-FON (for free), log in and use Wi-Fi instead of the cable to access the hub.

I was with AOL for quite a while, became very expensive and had big problems with tech support. Told them my broadband line was down and wouldn't believe me so I gave them the phone numbers of two other people within 1/4 mile of me whose line was also down! Constant outages.

Moved to Plusnet and all was fine for a while until the router started playing up and they sent me a "new one" pre-loaded with my details to swap over. What they also did at the same time was send someone else a router with all my details on then started charging me for going over our usage limit and they were adamant it was us using it. Took 2 months to sort the problem and that was only because we were away for a day and noticed usage! The speed was slow with the "new" router and I eventually managed to squeeze a bit of information out of a manager that the router was refurbished stock and not capable of transmitting via wifi the speed we were paying for. I asked Plusnet for the MAC code for migration and was drawn into an argument and verbally abused by one of the most obnoxious customer support staff I have ever dealt with because I wanted to leave.

Currently on BT Infinty FTC 40mbps for the last two years. Install went smoothly apart from a modem fault within a few days which was quickly replaced and in the line training days I saw 65Mbps at one point. Speed has consistently been around 38Mbps download and 8Mbps upload since. Only two gripes; it's not cheap and I was told before signing up that the line speed would automatically go to 80mbps when it went live but I have to sign up again for that package. Currently considering the 80Mbps package with a YouView box.
