Time for a new Mig

Been thinking about it for a long time but money is of course rather tight. Wasn't at all happy with my Clarke 150TE, not a patch on my ancient 100E Mk2 which it replaced, apart from the power obviously. Not even in the same league, quality-wise.
So whether I can really afford it or not, so close to xmas, and with 'Casper' my big Discovery demanding my immediate attention for the MOT, I have put my money down on the Portamig 185. Yes it would have been nice to have gone for the bigger/biggest one but if I'm honest most of the material I glue together is around 3 mil tbh.
So I wait with baited breath for Mr Weldequip to post my little box out to me.

I still remember mine arriving, probably the smallest delivery man in the UK knocked on the door with a 'errrr any chance of a hand mate'

He had a transit van, no tail lift and a sack bogey with a flat tyre and my MIG sitting in the back on a pallet.

Then I got a 'blerdy hell pal wot's in this box' as we manhandled it onto his lobsided bogey, with me giving it the old 'easy easy'.

Great crimbo present though

I confess to having completely misunderstood this comment.
As a kid I knew a kid called Bogey O'dell. He is my age, he still has a sack bogey.

Mine turned up today, and very impressive it looks too. Just got to set up a gas bottle from Jayar and await the arrival of the new auto mask.
Dissolving Disco Disease could be on the run soon.

I've had a few rough crossings to the island, worst one saw a chap thrown through a plastic wall dislocating his shoulder, luckily for him there was 6 or 7 rescue ambulance crews with assorted doctors & paramedics on board so he got treated quick!.

Turboquattro lifted my 185 onto the passenger seat in my hired Transit tipper, as I didn't want to put it in the back and get it wet , I lifted it out at my end. I must admit I was glad to get it on its wheels again though....

People on the island are still complaining though about boats being cancelled etc and expecting the boat to go out in all weathers up to a force 10 storm, just as long as we get food supplies to the islend every so often we will be fine... just not so sure about the priority on loading courier deliveries !!!

Was hoping to get the mig to have a practic and maybe knock up some welded
figurines for family members for christmas but may be pushing it a bit to get them done in time !!

Went in there to enquire about them and they want 180 sovs for a full 20lt bottle inc deposit!
You can imagine what they can do with prices like that!
Apparently AP are going to be starting in the new year so I will make do with a pub bottle refill for now at 20 quid and buy a can of anti-spatter.

Best laid plans, etc.
Went in with the bottle and realised that I can't use my regs with it so need another reg for CO2 at 50 quid. So back to JR I went and gbot myself sorted there at their vastly inflated prices.
Still at least I got out in the garage this afternoon and capped the box section I'm using for my Disco sills. Wow that is a lovely piece of kit, I'm so pleased with it.
Just got to work out now, how to tell the wife I've spent another shedload of money just before chrimbo....
