tig welding stainless/alloy advise/which tig??

well for 350 it is a bl***y good buy i would say for a ac/dc tig welder. the ones i was looking at start about 3k, but then what i want would be for a little difference from what you will be needing. as i would use it for work and i would want a good one i know is easy to get parts.

but for generial use it is all good, all you have to do now is lear how to tig weld, now the fun starts. and as for tungsten i would have a thourieated for s/s and then errm the white one( can never rember the different types). and if i was you buy a box or two, wile you are learing you will need it, i know i did, and i was tourght by a few really good welders

My local welding supplier sells Tungstens loose. I'm still on my first set (use different ones for AC and DC). The DC 2.4 is now short enough to fit the mid length cap.

right guys my china tig has arrived ,long as it works ok for what i need ill be happy ,
few questions
first tungston advise , is there differnert ones for dc/ac or is it differnert for alloy and stainless if so which/
how mutch argon flow do i need to the torch
how far should the tungston stick out of the torch? as its only come with one with a grey colour on the end /unsure what this means?
unsure if anyone has one of these , but after reading the instruction manual , i dont get the jist of how to set the buggar up ...

Ahh the ol' chinglish instruction manual! Miller TIG handbook, download and read it and/or many of the threads in the TIG welding section

Get some argon and use the thing as hard as you can i.e. so if it's gonna die it's more likely to do so while in warrenty

pmsl ,, right ive orderd enoegh steel/alloy for a solid 6months work ,,,once i figure how to set it up that is ,, , so we will see ,how bad these chinglish tigs are ,,nice one hotrodder , ps a fair amount of posts as u seem ereally up on tigs/welding etc ,,,,very helpfull ,,,

The one or 2 that i've used welded fine, if you search this (or any other welding forum) you'll find the issue is one of reliability/QC and from some sellers poor to non existent back up, warrenty and the like turning any problems (DOA or go up in smoke after a few hours arc time) into potential nightmares. Hope you're one of the lucky ones

well started having a blast with it , apart from a few arc eyes first off , getting used to settings on it ,seems to work ,,if nothing else , think best way is get some ampage on it see how long before it either frys or cuts out ,,, if it packs up within a mnth say it will be boxed and sent back as faulty
