Done brass a number of times, its not very nice, fume mask will be required.
Worst was a door handle i repaired, that was terrible, and best, made a mat well frame in new brass angle, that was much much nicer. I assume the cheapy door handle had more zinc.
I had a go at tig brazing the other day just used dc and messed with the power till it worked. I've seen someone on telly welding copper sheet and they just used a strip of it for the filler dont know if it would work with brass or bronze but i'd just give it a go.
That works well if the finished item will be polished, it keeps the weld metal the same colour.
I did a bit of brass with copper silicone, looked good when polished up, buy the weld tarnished up much darker than the rest over time.
The recommended current is DC with electrode negative for bronze.
Brass has zinc in it, which creates its own gas and can affect the porosity of the weld as well as causing fumes. It can be welded, but not recommended.
