I have a second hand Jasic Inverter WSE200P tig welder. I have not used it in earnest yet but upon receiving it I switched it on to make sure it at least started. It has a select switch to choose between MMA and TIG. Upon selecting to Tig a loud buzzing noise emanated from the unit for about 10 secs and then stopped. My first thought was a dicky relay.
I removed the casing and tried again and low and behold there was an arc between two poles just like you see when the clever blokes demonstrate how an arc is produced. This I presume is normal as it has been built like that but why is it like that and do all tig welders have this feature?
