Tig Torches - HF / non-HF ???

Hi I keep seeing torches advertised (second hand) as for HF or non-HF machines.

Can anyone tell me if there is actually a difference in the torch, or if people just put that because thats the type of machine it came from but it would work on both equally well?

Hi Al, Its the machine that decides if its HF or not, but I think what the sellers mean, if you have a Scratch start (non HF) tig, you usually (not in all cases) have a external gas valve on the torch, thats not generally there on a torches that come with HF machines........but on some machines that are HF, you can switch the HF off but you still use the same torch....

Hi Matt, thanks for the reply, so its as I suspected - the seller is mentally associating the torch with a machine.

Yes, I can switch the HF to Constant / HF start / Off on my machine too. I used to have a scratch start with the manual gas valve - was quite handy for pre & post flow.
