TIG torch advice

Hello all, new member here :-)

Appologies if this is in the wrong section.

Need a bit of advice on TIG torches.

I have a wp9 valved torch that i used to use with a scratch start inverter setup.
I have just aquired a 200 amp HF set and need a torch for it.
Could i add a switch to the wp9 and use that?
Switch lead kits are available on Ebay for £15 ish

I will be welding 1.5mm wall stainless tube together and also 10mm thick flanges to the tube...i'm fairly new to TIG welding so not sure if the wp9 would be up to the power needed.

Moved to the Tig welding section

You could use it by just leaving the manual valve wide open, and fitting a torch switch, but WP9 is a bit lightweight for a 200 amp set, they are good for about 125 amps or so and will be ok for your lightweight tubing, a WP17 would be better, especially for your 10mm flanges.

You want to use a WP17 torch really, WP9 is a bit small for the amps involved on a 200

Weldequip on here should be able to supply decent stuff at fair prices, Get yourself a WP17F, it has a flexible head and is very handy, also a set of gas lenses also. 1mm tungstens are worth having also.
