Tig mono power cable.

Hi, I have searched the site but cannot really find an answer to my problem, wondered if any one can help.
I have just bought another torch with a mono cable, it is way too long and was wondering if it is possible to have the cable cut and the 3/8BSP screw on connector re- crimped, are hydraulic crimp tools suitable for this? I realize this has to be done properly as I understand the gas runs through the middle with the braided power cable around it. Thanks for any advice / info.

i would imagine that hydraulic fittings would do the job but have never tried it. might be worth taking thee job to the local hydraulic shop and see what they say

I called one today, hydraulics place and they said they would give it a go. Thought Id try get more info before talking it in.

should be fie then as hydraulic hoses sometimes have a braid in they for earthing to prevent static build up

I don't understand how a torch cable can be too long. Often come across situations where the thing's too short (move the work/move the welder) but never the other way round

Personal preference. The inverter is no more than 8ft from any work so I just prefer a short lead. Taken on board what you've said, I have found a shorter cable so wont be shortening the 10m cable. Only problem, it has an M16 screw thread instead of the usual 3/8bsp. I have a male M16 - female 3/8bsp hydraulic connector that I can screw onto the dinse adapter which connects to the inverter. It is not brass, (cannot find brass in this size anywhere) some kind of steel, can I use this safely without damage to inverter.
