only ever liked mma/stick welding,but a big firm near me has started taking people on for tig welding,how hard would the move to tig be,as im going for a job come Monday.theres machinists needed to,so stand some chance.they are learning people to tig,then giving them a two year contract,on £9.50 hour.

Things I have learn't about TIG welding are you need good eyesight and a steady hand, it takes longer to get to grips with than MMA, especially pipe work.

There's far more attention to detail needed with tig as well as better hand/eye coordination. having to be looking at 2 things coming together keeping your arc length right watching the pool knowing when to add filler. Once you have spent a while doing it then it will all come naturally. It is very satisfying when you can see your weld infront of you and looks absolutely perfic!

I found the fact that I could gas weld helped a lot when I learnt to TIG weld.

one thing to consider, if you are going to use an existing dc MMA inverter you cant weld aluminium, and wont have hf.

after a bit of practice and following the tutorials on here I could do all the joints I could with stick, with good penetration, but they didn't look anywhere near as nice as id imagined
