Tig Brasing Today

Had this little job in , brass machined part ,from the braking system on a Diesel Locomotive ! it was in two parts so got to brasing it , DC- , 120amps , 15cfh , 2.4 Red tungsten , C9 Filler Rod , ground it down brased on the inside then ground out the outside and filled it , building it up for strength , it went very well ! if i do say so myself

My dad has dropped one of his woodwork planes and cracked it.

I am debating if to gas braze it or TIG braze it?

v out the crack heat the plane with a propane torch 1st and gas braze it with oxy acet

its a bit spitty ! plenty of zinc in there , but very do-able !

I have never done this before, certainly not on brass. What are the characteristics, is it simply low amp work?

I think the closest to doing something similar, was repairs to Phosphor Bronze Valves for offshore applications.

I was on 120 amps , the part was about 15mm at its thickest point but once hot it was simple

I guess just the same, or similar to tig welding brass, using sheet slithers as filler? And of course, without capillary action if brazing using O&A and flux?
