Tig and Mig or?

Hi all,
I have been using a mig for a few years now (hobby) , and have just bought a Jasic 200A AC/DC tig Machine.
How many of you have both? Or do you find the Tig will cover all you need?

Mig is the quicker option if you don't have time on your hands + Easier

I have both, but if I had to pick one i'd keep the tig, it's slower and no where near as easy but way more versatile and satisfying to use.

It depends on your scope. I have had only tig sets for years. Only bought a mig recently and it’s never been used in anger since buying. Tig offers more flexibility imo. It covers all metals with 1 bottle of gas. It offers very fine detailed work on very thin gages but the beauty of it is by plugging in a stinger you get MMA which covers those 4mm and above gages. In a productive world it’s mig all the way. Travel speeds can be 4/5 times faster than tig and you can deposit loads more metal. Skill level with mig generally is lower to get instant results. Obviously mig requires skill especially when you start getting into positional work but you can generally plug it in and get something half decent straight away. Tig simply not the case.

I have a 140 amp mma inverter, 160 amp mig and an ac/dc tig set, the mig is for thin sheet steel, the tig is for aluminium mainly.

Personally I prefer the 140 amp stick welder, mainly because its small, easy to move around and quick to set up.

I have MIG, TIG and MMA and would could not be without any of them. Well I suppose I could do without the MMA as the TIG and MIG welders can do it but they are bulky compared to the wee GYS so I wouldn't like to have to use them instead.
My work is a lot of Aluminium 3mm and upwards and I tend to use the Mig for that unless it is small parts and then I often use the TIG.
I also do a lot of stainless, for the lighter stuff I will use TIG, for the heavier it is MMA.
Steel is the same as Stainless, lighter stuff TIG, heavier MMA.

depends what you're doing, Im still trying to get the hang of this tig welding, on a bench its not too bad, but mig will win hands down on the underside of a car with dirty metal that you can't get clean e.g. you can get away with replacing sill sections with a mig, but you'd struggle with a tig as the old cavity wax melts and contaminates the weld.

It’s all down to what you do in the job iv 4 mig and 1 tig on the floor at home iv tig and mma .
Doing a set of fancy gates with anything other than mig to me would be hell .
Doing stainless handrails tig only for me .
Every set-up has it’s pros and cons having both is great if you can afford to keep both if you have to pick between them I’d pick tig

Ive got mig, tig and mma, and its the same as most people, each one has its place and use
