tig and electronics

Hi all.

I need some advice please. I have to do some stainless tig welding on a simulator arcade machine. The main frame on the moving seat has snapped, and the under-supports need re-welding. My concern is for the simulators circuit boards and CPU units while i`m welding as they are close to the area. Do i have to isolate these, or will they be safe as long as the tig`s earth is close to the arc?. Thanks for any help/ideas.

i reckon this is unknown territory, i think would try and detach the 2 if possible

im not sure its gonna matter where the earth is. I think you need an electricians advice on this. Good luck...

I would be disconnecting the pcb's as sensitive electronics don't like HF going through them.

Indeed - there's a very large alternating current flowing when you weld, which will induce currents in anything nearby. Semiconductors can be easily destroyed by as little as 1 Amp, so I'd see if you can remove the pcbs and disconnect any wiring that's within 30cm or so.
