My lad bought a second hand, stand alone, dishwasher from an auction site. One old lady owner, hardly used, in good condition! Just recently he has noticed that when its done its job and he opens the door and he touches anything metallic inside(like the door internal cover or basket) he gets a tingle or minor shock. I have checked the plug to ensure there are no stray wires and all is ok. It is a Hotpoint Aquarius model no. SDW60 Before I start pulling it out to try and check the wiring is there anything obvious to go to with this model?

We have an sdw80 and it is an utter pile of crap. It has been repaired about 7 times but then it is 7 years old. Luckily we have it on a repair insurance plan and we have certainly had our moneys worth.
I think it did once give me shocks a while ago but then stopped.
If you have a multi meter then check continuity from the earth on plug to the chassis.

check the socket that its plugged in to for a good earth as well as checking for earth continuity in the machine just in case

I had this with a washing machine - rewiring the house fixed it.

Just remembered, the fault on mine was the main heating element failing (amongst other things). Besides giving me a tickle there was also a slight burning smell.
Our dishwasher was homicidal, it wanted to electrocute me then burn the house down.

I had a similar thing, went to fit a dishwasher and ended up with a brand new kitchen!
