Three phase starter/on off switch on single phase?

I ve converted my three phase pillar drill to single phase; the three phase on off switch is an almost new Moeller in proper metal enclosure, can this be wired to work on the single phase motor or do I need a dedicated single phase on/off switch? (Currently the motor just has a three pin plug on it!)

just run the live from motor through one of the phases in the switch, neutral and earth as normal providing it is just a normal on off switch. might be a bit different if its a complicated switch, can remember one switch for a heckler and Koch we have in work that had about 12 connections in it and didn't seem to follow any logic at all

It's more usual to switch live and neutral, so just use two of the phases on the switch.

Is the Moeller a Contactor, if so you might have to change the coil from a 380-440v to a 230v one.

You can unwind a bunch of turns off the 415V contactor coil to make it work on 240V if you're feeling savvy enough (and if it comes apart). I did this on my lathe.
